The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Stephen’s Church, Bath  

INTRODUCTION

St Stephen’s Church PCC (“we”, “our”, “the Church”, “the PCC”) is committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring transparency in how we collect, use, and store information.  This Privacy Notice is provided by the PCC of St Stephen’s Church, Bath to explain how we handle your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Legislation (GDPR).

1. Who are we?

The PCC of St Stephen’s Church, Bath is the Data Controller. A data controller decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

 2. What data we collect

  • Name (optional)
  • Contact details (if you choose to provide them)
  • Visual images (photographs, video, live streaming)
  • Your views, preferences and suggestions regarding the Church and its activities 

3.  How we use your data 

  • To keep in touch with news and information about events, activities, and services within the PCC of St Stephen’s Church, Bath, the Benefice (of St Stephen’s Bath and St Mary’s Charlcombe) and/or your local diocese (St Stephen’s Church, Bath and the diocese of Bath);
  • To enable us to undertake voluntary activities for the benefit of our community, our parishioners, and members of the public who engage with St Stephen’s Church and its activities;
  • To include your details in the Church Directory;
  • To share your contact details with the Diocesan Office so they can keep you informed about news in the diocese and events, activities and services that will be occurring in the diocese and in which you may be interested;
  • To fundraise and promote the interests of the charity;
  • To keep you updated on news, events and the progress of the Beacon of Lansdown project;
  • To maintain our own accounts and records (including the processing of gift aid applications);
  • To manage our employees and volunteers.

4. What is the legal basis for processing you personal data? 

  • Explicit consent from the data subject so that we can keep you informed about news, events, activities, and services and process your gift aid donations and keep you informed about diocesan events;
  • Legal obligation – we are required by law to collect and process data for weddings, funerals, baptism and associated life events;
  • Processing is necessary for carrying out obligations under employment, social security or social protection law, or a collective agreement;
  • Legitimate Activity – we collect and process this data as part of our legitimate activities, and interests as it is necessary for us to gather insights from the community to enhance our services, and as a not-for-profit body;

  • Events planner
  • Official wedding/baptism/special event photographer

6. Data Sharing  

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with the PCC of St Stephen’s Church, Bath and/or your local diocesan office, and with other church members of the church in order to carry out a service to other church members or for purposes connected with the church.  We will only share your data with third parties outside of this parish with your explicit consent.

8. Your Rights 

Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data: 

  • The right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you 
  • The right to request correction or deletion of your data 
  • The right to withdraw your consent at any time (if applicable)
  • The right to restrict or object to the processing 
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have mishandled your data.
