A fundraising timeline for the next 185 years
HOW MUCH?
We are currently fundraising for £130,000 to fully scope the complete project and all works involved.
WHAT FOR?
Project seed funding to pay for the standard initial costs - professional fees for architects, structural engineers, heritage advisers, planning applications - and the list goes on!
BY WHEN?
By Easter 2026 – 5th April.
WHAT NEXT?
We will then be ready to appoint architects and associated experts to comprehensively define the project plans, and prepare any necessary BANES planning and Diocesan faculty applications.

St Stephen's for Tomorrow
St Stephen’s was built in 1840 as a centre of worship, a landmark community and faith beacon on Lansdown’s northern slopes. Today a church needs to be so much more, a multifaceted building of many parts and multiple purposes. Your generous support will help us to fulfil our dream and answer our prayers to achieve our 21st century Beacon of Lansdown project for St Stephen's and for the Lansdown community.
We are enormously appreciative of all donations. Every donation will be acknowledged with thanks, and we will keep you updated on progress of the project, together with invitations both for St Stephen's and Beacon events.

AN EXPLANATION ABOUT THE FUNDRAISING TARGET
If we don't meet out initial seed capital fundraising goal by the target date of 5th April 2026, we will need to review our plans for the future of St Stephen's.
It would be fantastic if we exceeded our fundraising target! In this case, both additional funds or any funds not expended on the initial project planning will be spent on the first phase of the renovation work.
